Japan’s Itochu corporation is working with Hitachi Zosen to build and operate one of the world’s largest waste-to-energy plants in Dubai, to tap new demand. The facility is expected to cost $1.16 billion and will generate electricity by burning trash from households in the UAE, and can process up to 6,000 tons per day, with an annual capacity of 1.9 million tons.
