Baker Hughes, a GE company is likely to lose the GE part of its name as parent company, General Electric, struggles to reduce its debt levels. But the firm remains a serious oilfield services outfit. Recently, it secured a $175mn deal from Aramco to boost gas field production in the kingdom, as well as a subsea award from BP off the West African coast. The firm has also linked up with Egypt’s government to support modernisation of the country’s oil and gas industry.
