Abubaker Saeed of Saudi Aramco was named the 2015 Young Oil & Gas Professional of the Year at the annual Oil & Gas Middle East Awards.
It was the third recognition for Aramco that night as the number one oil and gas giant also scooped the HSE Product of the Year award for its e-Factory, IT Future Centre, and EOR Project of the Year for its Uthmaniyah CO2-EOR and CCS Project.
Abubaker Saeed is a petroleum researcher with the Production Engineering Technology Team at Aramco’s EXPEC Advanced Research Centre іn Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
Graduate of Saudi Arabia’s famous King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saeed was praised by the judges for his “innovative thinking” and “outstanding research”.
“I am greatly humbled and honored to be receiving the 2015 Young Oil & Gas Professional of the Year award. I would like to offer my sincerest gratitude to the for the judges and organising committee of the annual Oil & Gas Middle East Awards for this honor,” said Saeed.
He added: “It was a long and exciting journey until receiving this honor, but I did not make it here alone. Numerous people have supported me along the way. I’m very fortunate to work in Saudi Aramco’s EXPEC Advanced Research Center where I’m challenged daily by a very supportive management, that empowers young professionals and engineers and supply them with the tools to develop, lead, and innovate. I’m also fortunate to be supported by my parents who have raised a family that highly values education, dedication and hard work.”
On the importance of recognising young talent in the industry, Saeed commented: “Such recognitions illustrate the importance and huge roles and responsibilities that the oil and gas industry expects from its young professionals. The award definitely inspires and encourages me and all my fellow young professionals to work harder, and innovate and develop unconventional solutions to tackle and overcome the current and the future oil and gas industry challenges.”
Highly Commended in the Young Oil and Gas Professional category was Talha Ahmad, also from Saudi Aramco, who was described by the judges as “a solid professional with some outstanding achievements,” as well as a “quick learner with novel ideas – a very good and dedicated team member,” and a “rapid riser” within the oil and gas industry.
