Oman’s daily crude oil output in July exceeded 1mn barrels per day, the highest figure in the Sultanate’s history, Gulf News reports.

According to the Ministry of Oil and Gas, the country exported 24mn barrels, with China topping the list of importers of Omani crude.

Oil exports to China accounted for 69.25% of the Sultanate’s total exports in June, followed by Japan with 15.15%, Taiwan (7.25%), Singapore (4.05%) and Thailand (4.03%).

Oman’s crude output in the first half of the year increased by 2.9% to 175mn barrels from 170mn for the same period last year.

Total production in 2014 stood at 344mn barrels, of which 312.1mn were crude oil and 31.8mn were oil condensates.

Oman exported 3.81mn metric tonnes (MT) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the first half of the year. Some 2.42mn MT were shipped by Oman LNG and 1.39mn MT were exported by Qalhat LNG, the Sultanate’s two main exporters of LNG.

Statistics published by the Ministry of Oil and Gas showed that a total of 60 consignments (39 by Oman LNG and 21 by Qalhat LNG) were exported between January and June.

South Korea, Japan and Spain were cited as some of the main importers of LNG from the Sultanate.
