Drydocks World has completed the world’s largest turret mooring system – part of a vast floating LNG facility for SBM Offshore, Technip and Shell at the Prelude gas field off northwest Australia.

At a height of 100m, a diameter of 26m, and weighing in at over 11,000 tonnes, the turret will ensure the safe operation of the Prelude floating LNG facility in even the most extreme weather conditions.

In all, Drydocks World has delivered five turret-mooring modules for the Prelude project, with this latest and largest module representing the pinnacle and crowning achievement of the development.

In testament to the operational efficacy and safety of the undertaking, the Drydocks team clocked over five million LTI-free man-hours over the course of the project.

The project also exemplifying the global nature of the offshore industry, with the design work coming from Monaco for the construction of the modules in Dubai for shipping via South Korea and ultimately the installation off the coast of Australia.

The completed work was unveiled in the presence of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA), and chairman and CEO of the Emirates Group.
