ADIPEC 2017 preview Q&A: KELTON

Interviewee: Iain Pirie, managing director, KELTON

What is your company’s scope of business within the oil and gas industry?

Fully accredited, Kelton is a measurement consultancy and software developer for the oil and gas industry. For well over two decades, Kelton has helped many international and national operators to ensure their full compliance with industry regulations.

In which countries within the Middle East are you most active, and how do you plan to expand your reach in the region?

At present, Kelton is most active in Abu Dhabi and Oman, among all the GCC countries. We firmly believe that we can add significant value to the local operations, and are excited to be increasing our reach and engagement substantially over the coming years.

Who are your clients, and what is your scope of work with them?

Kelton has worked with many international and national operators in the oil and gas industry, including BP, Shell, Apache, Eni, Petronas, Dolphin Energy, GASCO, Al Hosn Gas, ADGAS, DUSUP, PDO, and OGC.

Why did you decide to participate in ADIPEC 2017?

As a Scotland-based company, Kelton will be present in the Scottish Development International (SDI) Pavilion. It allows us to help promote Scotland’s key strengths – innovation, knowledge, high-level skills, and technology. Represented by our Middle East business manager, Donald Angus, at the show, ADIPEC 2017 will enable us to personally engage with existing customers, potential clients, and our local partner, ADOS.

What are the main products or services that you will be showcasing at ADIPEC this year?

Kelton has made quantum leaps with the development of its software applications over the last couple of years. This includes the launching of new uncertainty module calculation applications, and the rebranding of our metering management software. ADIPEC is a great international platform to introduce Kelton MeterManager (formerly FM2P), the fully integrated software suite for managing all fiscal measurement activities, including instrument management, logging, document control, meter proofing, and dynamic uncertainty calculations.

What are your objectives for ADIPEC this year?

Meeting potential customers and learning about their needs is certainly a key objective behind our presence. ADIPEC offers us the opportunity to update national and international visitors about the innovations recently undertaken at Kelton, and to showcase the Kelton MeterManager.

How successful do you think ADIPEC will be this year, bearing in mind the current market circumstances caused by low oil prices?

We believe it is important to embrace the current market situation rather than allowing it to deter us, and are actively exploring different routes through which we can offer even more value to our clients, old and new. With a multitude of other Scottish companies joining us on the SDI Pavilion at the exhibition, we are excited about driving the industry forward, and the potential ADIPEC 2017 offers as an international platform in this respect.

How has business been for your company this year, and what are your plans and goals for 2018?

Thanks to our expertise in measurement consultancy and software applications, Kelton has remained profitable throughout all the challenges of 2017, carried mostly by building up its global reach and reputation. This development can predominantly be attributed to the efforts of the Kelton management team and the strength of the business in the Middle East and Far East regions.
