41-50 of the most powerful people in ME Oil & Gas

The enigmatic Nabil Al Alawi tipped 2011 as a year of recovery for the region’s oil and gas contracting environment, and he was right.

The resolutely bullish Alawi has been hiring hundreds of staff this year for UAE-based, home-grown Al Mansoori on the back of a strong order book and excellent prospects for large upstream projects. The company is active in most of the region’s booming markets, including Kurdistan, where it has operated for six years.

Al Mansoori has continued to thrive as the largest local oilfield service provider and its well-timed entry into the Kurdistan region has brought it remarkable success.

The company was recognized for its oilfield services at the Oil & Gas Middle East awards ceremony in November. Nabil’s son and deputy chief executive officer, Ibrahim Al-Alawi received the award, saying “What sets us apart from the competition is our people and their commitment to quality and safety. To provide a quality service to our clients, and a safe working environment for our employees.”

In past years, both Nabil and Al Mansoori have celebrated at the awards ceremony, with the chief receiving the lifetime acheivement award last year.
