Petrofac, the international service provider to the oil and gas industry, is continuing to develop its local Saudi talent at its biggest project at Jazan Refinery.
In the latest phase of development, Saudi engineers from Petrofac’s Khobar branch have moved to Jazan, where they are mentoring 80 Saudi construction trainees at Baish, Saudi Arabia.
“The engineers are contributing to Petrofac’s engineering work on the Jazan Refinery and also supervising the training in Petrofac’s program called SAWE (Saudi Arabian Work Experience),” said Daniel-Brian Murteda, training and development manager.
At the Baish construction site, the trainees are getting on-the-job experience in welding, pipe fitting, rebar fixing, and carpentry.
The program is part of Petrofac’s training strategy that includes engineering, construction, supervisory, and safety skills training.
“More than 160 hours of classroom training and 12 months of completed hands-on work have creating a solid foundation for the engineers and their fellow construction skills trainees to contribute to the refinery project in Jazan and the development of the Kingdom’s infrastructure,” Petrofac said in a statement.
