EQUATE Petrochemical Company has won the Corporate Social Responsibility award at Oil&Gas Middle East awards in Abu Dhabi last night.
To win in this category the companies had to demonstrate that the organisation went beyond mere lip service and truly had either its employees’ welfare or the community at heart.
Judges were taking into consideration initiatives such as engaging local students to increase awareness and interest in health related issues, or programs for encouraging young entrepreneurs to consider setting up their own businesses.
Nominees had to prove that their programme was a real driver of change in their local community and an effective CSR.
EQUATE’s winner initiative called Partners in Success was recognised as being “highly detailed, with a depth of data, while the project itself was said to include a “significant employee and family involvement”.
Dr Linda Freisler, director and general counsel, MEGlobal, presented the award on stage. MEGlobal are official category sponsors for this year’s Oil&Gas Awards.
Highly Commended in this category went to Community Engagement initiative from DOW Chemical Kuwait and LOYAC Partnership. The judges praised the project for its commitment to building ties with the wider community.
Nominated for this category were also Drydocks World Dubai with their “Zero Harm to People and the Environment”, Maersk Oil Qatar & Novo Nordisk- for their “Action on Diabetes Partnership” and the Petrochemical Industries Company for their “Solar Energy for Refinery PIC”.
