Siemens Energy division will unveil its latest range of highly efficient industrial gas turbines at the 1st Middle East Turbomachinery Symposium (METS) to be held in Doha, Qatar this week.

METS 2011, the Middle East version of a successful event held in Texas, USA, since 1971, will bring together industry leaders across the oil and gas sector to showcase new turbomachinary technology, exchange ideas and discuss ongoing industry related issues.

Siemens will be displaying its recent innovations in rotating equipment, as well as solutions for emerging markets such as Carbon Capture and Storage, Enhanced Oil Recovery, Fuel Gas, Instrument Air, Air Separation and District Cooling.

As Tom Blades, CEO, Siemens Oil & Gas Division, explains; “METS 2011 presents us with a fantastic opportunity to bring Siemens’ newest range of environmentally conscious turbines to the region for the first time, enabling customers throughout the Middle East to add sustainable solutions to their portfolios in order to build their green credentials.”

“Environmental awareness is constantly at the forefront of Siemens Energy’s products and solutions and the new systems will offer fewer emissions, while adhering to the industry’s sustainability index.”

Showcased on the Siemens stand will be the seal-less compressor STC-ECO used in sour-gas and subsea applications, as well as Siemens’ new SGT-750, a twin-shaft industrial gas turbine, which is one of the most optimized systems available in the market.

A key feature of the new system is the level of serviceability, as maintenance downtime for the machine has been cut-down to only one day per year and this is enhanced by the ability to perform maintenance work on site on the installed machine.

Proven components from other Siemens gas turbines are used to ensure maximized dependability and harmful emissions are reduced by the machine’s dry low emission (DLE) combustion system. The METS event will run through 13-16th February 2011.
