Saudi Aramco’s senior vice president for technical services Khalid al-Buainain has left the company after 35 years of service, Reuters reports.
The 54-year-old veteran “took an early retirement for personal reasons”, which will officially come into effect on Sunday.
His role will be taken over by Ahmad al-Sa’adi who has been appointed acting head for technical services until the end of August this year.
Buainain served in a number of senior roles at Aramco, including as chairman of PetroRabigh, a joint venture between Aramco and Japan’s Sumitomo Chemical.
PetroRabigh said in a statement on Wednesday it had appointed Abdulaziz al-Judaimi as chaiman of the company following the news of Buainain’s departure.
