Qatar’s state owned petroleum company signed an agreement with Qatar University for the development of a number of research programs focused on gas processing and development.

The agreement was signed by Mr. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, managing director at Qatar Petroleum, and Professor Sheikha Abdulla Al-Misnad, president of Qatar University.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Al-Kaabi welcomed the agreement and said it will secure a strong link between education and applied research.

He said: “The objective of the agreement is to connect Qatar University faculty members, researchers and students with Qatar Petroleum researchers in defined research projects.”

Al Misnad said: “We are pleased to partner with Qatar Petroleum on this initiative that will add value to Qatar’s fast-developing culture of research, a critical area of focus at Qatar University.”

“This agreement will serve to advance our collaboration with organizations in various sectors that place national concerns such as the environment within their research and innovation goals,” she added.

The joint agreement will also focus on developing research programs on materials, corrosion and the environment.
