It’s the last month of the year, and the momentum for project activity in the Middle East region hasn’t slowed down! Oil & Gas Middle East lists – in no particular order or ranking – the major contracts secured for diverse projects in the energy sector for the month of December 2022.

1. Saipem awarded $1.2 billion new contracts
Saipem was awarded new contracts in Guyana and Egypt worth $1.2 billion, the company announced earlier this month.
The first contract was awarded by US oil major Exxon Mobil for the Stabroek block offshore Guyana and the second contract was awarded by Petrobel for the transportation, installation and pre-commissioning of 170 km of umbilicals for the Zohr Field.
2. L&T wins EPC contract for world’s largest hydrogen plant in Saudi Arabia
NEOM Green Hydrogen Co (NGHC) has named Indian contractor Larsen & Toubro (L&T) as the sub-EPC contractor for its massive green hydrogen plant in Saudi Arabia. Under the terms of the contract, L&T will execute power grid and power generation works for the plant on an EPC basis.
3. Petronas awards EPCC contracts to JGC and Samsung Heavy Industries
Japan’s JGC and South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries will build Petronas’ third floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project after winning the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract.
Industry shipping publication TradeWinds reported the pair beat a rival consortium of Saipem and Wilson Offshore & Marine after a decision was made last week.
4. Petrofac secures EPC contract from ADNOC
UK-headquartered EPC giant Petrofac was awarded a lump-sum brownfield engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract by ADNOC.
Under the agreement, Petrofac’s Asset Solutions business will design and install facilities to optimise operations and reduce methane and greenhouse gas emissions at the Habshan Complex, located 150 kilometres South West of Abu Dhabi.
5. Oman awards $500 million LNG contract
Asyad Shipping, part of Oman’s state-owned Asyad Group, has signed an agreement with South Korean shipyard Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries for the construction of a pair of state-of-the-art LNG carriers.
State-owned Asyad Group noted in a post that the agreement signing, covering the supply of two new fifth generation LNG carriers, represents “another landmark in the group’s expansion plans to bolster its energy logistics capabilities and meet growing global demand.”
