Aries Oil Field Services wins CSR Initiative award

Company was recognised for its ‘Earthquake Relief’ initiative in Nepal

Aries Oil Field Services scooped the award for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiative of the Year with its Earthquake Relief initiative in Nepal.

The winning strategy in this fiercely contested category was praised for being a “very worthwhile initiative”. Another judge expressed their pleasure at being presented with a nomination that supported and came to the aid of people in genuine need of help.

“I think the main thing that impressed the judges was our immediate response to the crisis and the speed with which we reacted,” said Gireesh M. Menon, director, Naval Architect, Aries Oil Field Services, who collected the award.

“It was not only a company initiative, everyone in the company joined together and donated their salary towards the ‘Earthquake Relief’. And not only that, our CEO himself travelled to Nepal.

“Three or four of our guys were there, and they did not go to the places where all earthquake relief operations were taking place, they went to some remote areas themselves where they could help [an entire] village. I think they donated building materials to around 200 houses,” Menon added.

This category proved to be one of the most competitive, with a huge number of nominations from across the region. Nominations for the award had to demonstrate that an organisation went beyond mere lip service and truly had either its employees’ welfare or the community at heart.

Highly commended in this category was Saudi Aramco’s Corporate Wellness Programme. Speaking about the Highly Commended nomination, one of our judges said the initiative is “a well-designed and structured programme, which has generated positive results.”
