Dow Jones Newswires reports that BP has shut down production from its Chirag platform in the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli field of the Azaeri section of the Caspian Sea until 27 July due to planned maintenance, the company said Monday.

The shutdown will also stop shipments through the Baku-Supsa pipeline, while loading at the Sangachal terminal will be partially halted, BP said.

The Chirag platform produced between 80,000-85,000 barrels of oil a day before the maintenance work began Sunday night, BP said.

The generators, will be shipped in July by sea from Mount Vernon, in the United States. They are expected to arrive at the site in October 2011.

Each generator weighs 185 tons and has a cpacity of 27 Mega-watts.
