Technip has been awarded a reimbursable contract for the engineering work and services related to procurement and construction management for the Macedon gas project located 17 kilometers of Onslow in North West Australia.
The contract covers the onshore facilities consisting of a gas plant and pipelines works. Technip’s operating centers in Perth, Australia and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia will execute the contract, which is scheduled to be completed in 2013.
BHP Billiton is Operator of the Macedon Project and has a 71.43 percent interest, with joint venture partner Apache Northwest which has a 28.57 percent interest.
The Macedon project involves four offshore production wells supplying a wet gas pipeline to an onshore gas treatment plant to be constructed at Ashburton North, 17 kilometres south west of Onslow. The domestic gas plant will have a design capacity of 200 million standard cubic feet per day. A sales gas pipeline will be connected to the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline for sale to the domestic gas market in Western Australia.
