“ABB is committed to foster the sustainable economic and social growth of Oman in educating and providing employment opportunities for Omani nationals,” said Saeed Fahim, country manager for ABB in Oman at an induction event for Omani graduates. “Our working collaboration with local institutes of education such as Shinas College of Technology gives us a long term perspective and opportunity to secure a local work force for prestigious projects such as Vale iron ore pellet plant.”
The Vale iron ore pellet plant and distribution centre in Oman will cater to the Middle East steel industry’s growing demand for iron ore and pellets. The new plant will operate with 720 employees, of which 202 employees will be part of ABB’s maintenance team at the site.
