Mott MacDonald, the US$1.5 billion management, engineering and development consultancy firm which is sponsoring and taking a stand at this year’s Basra Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition, on 25-28 November at Basra International Fair Ground, Iraq, is providing keynote speakers.

Mott MacDonald is one of three platinum sponsors of the four day event, the company’s stand at the event is being manned by oil and gas experts, headed by Charles Ellinas, Mott MacDonald’s oil and gas managing director as well as senior Iraq based staff.

Ellinas will also be presenting a paper together with project director Bob Phillips entitled: Mott MacDonald’s contribution to local content, during the session focusing on laws and regulations in Iraq.

Ellinas said: “We shall be promoting both our oil and gas capabilities and the Mott MacDonald group as a whole at this major exhibition. Oil and gas is becoming a major expanding industry in Iraq as over the next 10 years Iraq’s oil production is expected to increase from 2 million to 10 million barrels per day.”

The Basra Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition 2010 will be attended by more than 150 international companies from across 30 countries, representing the entire spectrum of the oil & gas industry.

In September, the company was appointed by BGR Energy systems to carry out detailed engineering and procurement support for Iraq’s Akas and Al-Mansuria gas fields which are being developed by the State Company for Oil Projects. Detailed engineering for both fields is expected to be completed towards the middle of 2011.
