The world’s second largest Oil and Gas industry event, ADIPEC 2010, opens at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre on Monday November 1. It runs until Thursday November 4. The event exhibition and conference will be held under the patronage of UAE President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

At the exhibition, over 1,500 companies from around the world, including both many major international oil companies and companies from the region, like the ADNOC Group of companies, and leading manufacturers and suppliers, will provide insights into the latest technologies in use and will brief visitors on current developments in the industry.

Also part of ADIPEC 2010 is its conference, organised in conjunction with the Society of Petroleum Engineers, SPE. This year, under the chairmanship of chief executive officer of the Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations, ADCO, Abdul Munim Al Kindy, the conference has been structured around three main themes: Sub-surface, Surface and Vision. Over 260 speakers are expected to present papers while there are also numerous poster displays, providing new insights into the industry. Many of these will come from employees of the ADNOC Group.

The first ADIPEC was held in Abu Dhabi in 1984. Since then, taking place every two years, it has grown dramatically. In 1996 the exhibition occupied 5,000 square metres of space, since the move to the new ADNEC premises in 2008, it now occupied 60,000 square metres and the number of companies exhibiting has risen from around 500 to over 1,500. Over the same period, the number of conference delegates rose from 1,500 to 4,000 and the number of trade and industry visitors from 5,000 to 40,000, from over 90 countries.
