BY EMRAN HUSSAIN, LIVE FROM ABU DHABI:
Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Operations CEO, Abdul Munim Al Kindy today told journalists that ADNOC is targeting a major production capacity increase over the next five years. Â
Speaking from a press conference in Abu Dhabi this morning, Al Kindy told ArabianOilandGas.com that the national oil company parent, ADNOC, has set its sights on raising production capacity to 3.5 million barrels of oil each day by 2017.Â
“There is a plan which in place for the country to increase its production from existing fields, as well as develop new smaller and marginal fields in the next five years,” said Al Kindy.Â
Al Kindy said that prospective fields had already been earmarked for development, and that enhanced oil recovery techniques would play a role in boosting capacity.Â
Al Kindy added that ADCO would be presenting results of its first carbon dioxide injection EOR project at ADIPEC 2010, which commences tomorrow.Â
Al Kindy added that the timing of the conference, organised by the SPE, and chaired by himself, couldn’t be better for the regional and international upstream industry.
“One of the greatest challenges we all face in the industry today is the management of talent. Prior to this it was reservoir management and promoting efficiency in our operations. ADIPEC will be an opportunity to discuss all of these critical issues,” he said.Â
