Iran and Lebanon have reached agreement on further expansion of bilateral energy cooperation, Oil Minister Masoud Mir-Kazemi said Sunday, IRNA reported.

Speaking to reporters, he said during his meeting with Lebanese Minister of Energy and Water Gibran Bassil, the two sides decided to cooperate in the areas of oil and gas exploitation and construction of oil refineries.

Mir-Kazemi further announced that an Iran-Iraq-Syria-Lebanon meeting on gas exports will be hosted by the Islamic Republic in the near future.

Lebanon is very much interested in purchase of Iran’s oil products, he said, adding that the country is in need of the Iranian experts’ know-how on construction of oil refineries.

During the meeting, the Lebanese minister voiced his country’s readiness to make use of Iran’s valuable experiences in the area of oil products.

Beirut is eager to have close cooperation with Tehran in the areas of laying gas pipelines and constructing oil refineries, Bassil added.
