Drydocks World has built its second 3D seismic vessel for WesternGeco, a business segment of Schlumberger, in Dubai. A naming ceremony for the vessel NB65, now called ‘WG Cook’ was held at the Dubai yard on the 4th of July. The first vessel, WG Tasman was handed over in the first quarter of 2010.
The vessel, is 88.8 metres in length, 8 metres in depth, 19 metres in width and is of Ulstein SX 124 design, incorporating the X-bow hull design.
In April this year, Drydocks World delivered the third 3D seismic vessel for Polarcus which also uses the Ulstein design.
The diesel-electric propelled, DP2 class ‘WG Cook’ incorporates many features to enhance performance and complies with DNV Clean Design to ensure minimum emissions.

In the Middle East, Drydocks World – Dubai is one of the world’s largest shipyards with a comprehensive range of facilities supported by 3 Ultra Large Crude Carrier (ULCC) graving docks, it is capable of docking vessels up to 1 million tonne. Drydocks World – New Jadaf located in Dubai Maritime City has 44 dry berths and feature 2 ship lifts of 6,000 tonne and 3,000 tonne capacity respectively.
