Dolphin Energy today announced the completion of an important milestone in the development of the Taweelah – Fujairah Pipeline (TFP) that will increase the gas transportation capacity of natural gas to the F1 and F2 power stations in Fujairah.
Having commenced “commissioning gas” to ADWEC in August 2009, Dolphin Energy is ready to transport 350 million standard cubic feet of natural gas per day to the east coast of the emirates, providing sufficient gas transportation capacity required to fully operate both power stations.
This additional transportation capacity is made possible due to the completion of a 128 kilometer, 48” pipeline from Dolphin’s Taweelah Receiving Facilities to a hot tap connection on the existing Al Ain Fujairah 24” pipeline.
“By completing this important milestone, Dolphin Energy demonstrated its commitment to support its customers and helps to enhance industrial development and economic growth in the east coast of our country. We provide 30% of the UAE’s energy requirements and as such continue to be a leading and reliable supplier of clean energy,”said Commenting on this significant achievement, Mr. Ibrahim Ahmed Al Ansari, General Manager, Dolphin Energy, UAE.
“The construction challenge has been phenomenal considering the timeframe and the tough conditions associated with laying a 48” pipeline across the harsh desert and mountainous terrain,” Mr. Al Ansari added
The most significant challenges during construction were associated with third party crossings which required permission from various authorities to cross their assets. More than 150 such crossings were performed safely on this section of the TFP to ensure the integrity of the assets. In addition, five major road crossings were also executed under non destructive trenching techniques.
