Algerian Minister of Energy and Mining Chekib Khalil has revealed that his country will increase liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports by 50% as of mid 2010.
Khalil revealed that the exports increase would last until 2015, the Kuwait News Agency has reported.
In the first phase of the increase, Algeria will boost its capacity with the operation of a third pipeline of the MedGaz project, capable of carrying 8 billion cubic metres.
Algeria is currently producing 152 billion cubic metres of natural gas per year and exporting 62 billion cubic metres, Khalil reported.
