The impact of the Icelandic ash cloud from an erupting volcano has obliged the organisers of LNG 16, to be held in Oran, Algeria, to delay the start of the conference until tomorrow.
The organizers LNG 16 conference, which is expected to bring more than 4000 delegates from 64 countries together, were obliged to postpone the event because the majority of delegates are stuck in London, Frankfurt and Paris airport, with flights out of Northern Europe still grounded.
Air Algerie, the official airline of the conference, has cancelled more than 22 flights towards Europe, and rerouted some flights toward southern European destinations.
The LNG 16 agenda includes topics related the gas pricing and collaboration between producer countries to set new pricing rules, as gas prices have fallen to around US$4 per million BTU in 2009, compared to $9 per million BTU in 2008.
