Renaissance Services has added a 61 metre emergency recovery and response vessel to its fleet of offshore support vessels (OSV), which provide marine services to blue chip oil and gas companies.
The vessel, named the Caspian Protector, will be deployed in Azerbaijan in support of a 10-year, US$225 million contract with the oil firm BP, which was won by the company’s subsidiary Topaz Energy and Marine in 2008.
“The Caspian Protector is the result of a collaborative process between Topaz and our client, BP, to understand the client’s exact requirements and jointly develop the technical specifications of a vessel that’s uniquely equipped to meet the challenges of the operating realities of the Caspian Sea,” Roy Donaldson, chief operating officer at Topaz Marine, said.
The Caspian server, which began its operations in 2009, is also deployed against the contract, as is the Caspian Power, which is due for delivery later this year.
