A prominent member of Iran’s oil and gas industry has said that Iranian companies are capable of developing oil fields in the country on their own, local media has reported.
In an interview with Shana, Roknaddin Javadi, managing director of Oil Industries Engineering and Construction (OIEC) group said the firm had presented its own master development plan for the development of the Azar oilfield.
“OIEC has a better technical knowledge about Iranian fields in comparison with foreign companies,” Jayadi added.
Jayadi stated that OIEC intended to negotiate further on the field in order to reach an agreement.
Azar oilfield lies in Ilam province in western Iran and is shared with neighboring Iraq. The Oilfield in Anaran Block may offer up to 2 billion barrels of crude oil.
Earlier this week oil and production supervisor at the National Iranian oil Company, Bahman Soroushi had told Shana: “In order to develop the field, some domestic and foreign companies, including Gazprom have presented their offers.”
