Qatargas has delivered its first LNG cargo at the Fujian terminal in China, to the China National Offshore Oil Corporation.
The cargo was delivered on a conventional size vessel with a capacity of 140,000 cubic metres and follows a number of Q-Flex cargos at Guangdong Dapeng terminal.
“China represents a major market for Qatari LNG and we are proud to be able to deliver this cargo safely and on time. Qatargas is very pleased to be playing an increasing role in providing stable energy supplies to China,” Ahmed AlKhulaifi, chief operating officer – Commercial & Shipping, Qatargas said.
“LNG has a key role to play in helping governments around the world improve the diversity of their energy supplies. We are pleased with this development which will help to meet the growing demand for energy in China,” he added.
Qatar is the world’s largest LNG producer, and it is thought that China will become one of the world’s biggest LNG markets.
