The state-controlled energy company Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has announced that it is looking for contractors interested in carrying out the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for its Al Noor oilfield expansion project.
Reuters reported that the project, in the south of the Gulf state involves the construction and installation of a new gas dehydration train, gas injection compression facilities, associated injector wells, associated piping and utilities at the existing production station located at the oilfield.
PDO, an affiliate of Shell, is the largest oil producer in Oman and produced 633,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude in 2008.
Due to its mature fields Oman has long been a proponent of enhanced oil recovery (EOR) technology. Heavy investment in the said technology pushed 2009 production up to 807,000 bpd from 757,000 bod in 2008.
