The state-owned utility Saudi Electricity Co (SEC) has awarded a contract to Arabian Bemco Contracting Co worth $288 million that will see the company undertake an expansion project on one of SEC’s power plants.
Reuters reported that the project is being carried out to ensure that Qassim, one of the KSA’s agricultural regions, will have enough power to meet demand.
“The firm has authorised this year projects worth $586.6 million in Qassim to meet the growing demand for electricity,” Ali Saleh al-Barrak, SEC’s chief executive is reported by Reuters as assaying.
Barrak also said that the projects will last for three years.
