Increased security in the oil and gas sector has been described as “vital” by an industry insider.
“Security is vital now, if you look at these tankers going around the horn of Africa, the Somali pirates are taking big tankers,” Tim Grant, director of Track 24, a security solutions provider, revealed.
Track 24 provides real time visibility solutions for clients across many sectors, and Grant explained the oil and gas industry is the next target for the company.
“We do a lot in the Middle East, we are only really starting to approach the oil and gas sector and mainly the companies that are operating in places such as Africa, Kurdistan, Iraq, but we are keen to help meet their requirements in other places,” Grant said.
Despite this, Grant believes there may be a slight delay before orders start flooding in from the oil and gas industry: “I think what we appreciate at the moment is that the sector generally has had to tighten its belt. What we want to do is talk to oil and gas companies and talk about the capabilities of the system and see if this is something they want to use. Once they are spending again, this might be on the agenda. “
