A senior official from the Oil Services Company’s workers’ syndicate has threatened strike action from his members if promises over pay are not met by the Kuwait authorities.
The Kuwait Times reported that Khalid Al-Hajeri warned Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, the minister of oil and of information in a statement released to the press that unless promises made regarding increases in workers’ danger allowances and backdated payments are honoured, workers will stage sit-in protests.
The statement also said that the minister had promised the additional payments in a meeting a month ago.
