Qatar LPG production to double in two years

Output will reach 12 million tonnes a year by 2011 says Tasweeq CEO

LPG production in Qatar is set to reach 12 million tonnes within “a couple of years”, reports the CEO of Tasweeq.
Speaking on the country’s LPG prospects, Ali Al-Hammadi said: “The production of LPG from the state of Qatar has been for many years, around 2 million tonnes. But this has been ramping up. We are currently producing around 6 million tonnes, and we are a major player in the LPG market.

“With the massive increase in our LNG and other hydrocarbon industry, we are expected to reach 12 million tonnes (of LPG production) in a couple of years. This will double our LPG production.”

Al-Hammadi added that the country realises the challenges of marketing this amount of LPG when the world economy is still in recovery.

Tasweeq will be holding its 4th LPG trade Summit in Doha on November 9-11. The event will be presented under the patronage of His Excellency Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiya, deputy premier and minister of energy and industry of Qatar.
