Topaz Energy and Marine, through its subsidiary Nico International, has been awarded an EPC contract for the construction of top side facilities at Oil Terminal 2, Port of Fujairah.
Nico International, part of the newly formed Topaz Engineering division, was recently awarded the contract by the Port of Fujairah in competition with several regional names. The project includes construction of facilities for Oil Terminal 2 on a lumpsum turnkey, EPC basis. Topaz’s scope of work includes design, supply, fabrication, installation, testing and pre-commissioning of four berths Topside Facilities.
Mr. B.S. Motwani, deputy general manager of Topaz’s onshore fabrication business said in a statement; “Since 1981, Topaz has been actively involved in the development of the Port of Fujairah. Our long-term strategy in Fujairah is closely linked with our strong partnerships with the Port of Fujairah and the Emirate as a whole. Our significant investments over the years have paid dividends and this contract signing is the latest in a string of contract awards.”
With the massive development of the oil bunkering business in and around the Port of Fujairah this additional berthing capacity will boost the regional oil trading business due to its strategic location and growing demand. With the latest technologies in place, Oil Terminal 2 in Port of Fujairah will be one of the prime facilities on the East Coast of the Emirates. A deepwater port, Fujairah is suitable for berthing tankers up to 180,000 DWT, and partly loaded VLCC’s with a draft of less than 18 metres.
Topaz Engineering, with its combined strength of Nico International and Adyard Abu Dhabi, has executed projects of similar complexities and volumes in the recent past and considers this as an opportunity to strengthen its satellite operations/ project execution capabilities in Fujairah.
Topaz’s new onshore fabrication facility in Al Hayl, Fujairah is soon to be inaugurated and will provide 30,000 sqm of prime fabrication space allowing Topaz to capture a major share of Fujairah’s storage terminal construction market.
