A new law issued by Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has ushered in a Supreme Council of Energy in Dubai – with the aim of ensuring power supply meets the growing needs of the emirate.
The law stipulates the structure of the council and defines its objectives and prerogatives, reported the Emirates News Agency WAM.
The Supreme Council of Energy has been awarded juridical personality and the necessary legal capacity to achieve its goals.
A Department of Oil Affairs has also been set up by Sheikh Mohammed, which will oversee the crude oil in Dubai and help manage energy supplies. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum has been appointed chairman of both the Department of Oil Affairs and the Council of Energy.
