Kuwait has said that it has arrested six men in connection with a series of planned terrorist attacks in the Gulf state.

The men, all Kuwaiti nationals, were a jihadist terrorist cell with connections to Al Qaeda according to a statement released by the government.

Targets for the men included a US army base and a number of other undisclosed establishments.
