France-based oil and gas contractor Technip has won a contract to design production facilities for an undeveloped oil field offshore Abu Dhabi, Bloomberg said Saturday, quoting a report from MEED.
Technip will provide front-end engineering and design work for the first phase of the Nasr field, part of Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Co.’s plan to increase offshore oil production capacity to 1.75 million barrels a day by 2019 from 1.1 million barrels a day, MEED said.
This is the first time Abu Dhabi Marine, also known as Adma-Opco, has developed a new field for commercial use in more than four decades, MEED added.
Abu Dhabi National Oil Co., BP, Total SA and Japan Oil Development Co. are shareholders of the UAE company.
