Two exploration blocks in Rajasthan, India’s largest state, have been awarded to consortia led by Hindustan Oil Exploration Company (HOEC) and Oil India.
Block RJ-ONN- 2005/1 with 20% interest will be operated by HOEC and its partners in the venture : Bharat Petro Resources, IMC and Jindal Petroleum. Three wells have been drilled in the 1424-square-kilometre block.
Oil India and its partners HOEC and HPCL-Mittal Energy will operate Block RJ-ONN-2005/2 with 25% interest. The 1518-square-kilometre block has had two wells previously drilled.
Both exploration licences will run for seven years.
