Telvent system operational on PetroChina pipeline

IT company announces successful start-up of US$10.5 million system

IT company Telvent has announced the successful operational start-up of its OASyS supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system on the Lan-Zheng-Chang oil pipeline, owned by Petrochina Company Limited (PetroChina) and the longest oil pipeline in China.

Telvent technology has already begun supervising the operation of this 2,100-kilometer pipeline, improving security and sustainability.

Petrochina has invested more than US$10.5 million in this project to gain real-time control of its oil pipeline operation. The Telvent system will supply continuously updated information on pipeline status and operations that not only increases pipeline security but also efficiency of the Chinese petroleum company’s petroleum extraction and transporation operations.

More efficient use of operations infrastructure – and the constant monitoring of, and ability to respond quickly to, any potential disruptions or oil leaks – helps the company mitigate harmful environmental effects and operate more sustainably.

This oil pipeline crosses China from west to east, with elevation changes of more than 2,500 meters and passage through complex geographical features. The system has begun to control the 1,191-kilometer Lanzhou-Zhengzhou segment, with start-up and operation and stoppage of 10 stations, 21 RTU block valve stations and four branch lines.
