A senior official from Qatargas has said that production from its Train 5 is expected to begin by the end of 2009.
News agency Reuters reported that Alaa Abujbara, marketing director of Qatargas’s commercial and shipping group, told reporters at the Asia Oil and Gas Conference that Train 5 should be onstream by the the fourth quarter of this year.
“We expect train 5 to start production by end of this year, hopefully by the fourth quarter,” Alaa Abujbara is reported as saying.
Train 5 is part of Qatargas 2 and is a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum (65%), ExxonMobil (18.3%) and Total (16.7%). Qatar is the world’s largest exporter of LNG and has the largest reserves of non-associated gas on the planet and the third largest reserves of all types of natural gas overall.
