A new daily gas flow and LNG vessel movement reporting service for energy traders and analysts was launched today at Gastech in Abu Dhabi. LNGLive has been developed by shipping information specialists Lloyd’s Register-Fairplay and energy trading software company Innovez and provides global gas flows, ship location, destination, port call history and movement analysis for the entire global LNG fleet, including terminal type and ship capacity.
The system is based on data derived from the ships’ Automatic Identification System (AIS) transponders. The source of this data is the AISLive.com network, also owned by Lloyd’s Register-Fairplay, which was the first, and remains the largest, global AIS network. The AIS data is then automatically analysed by the unique software developed by Innovez over 18 months. The end-user is provided with a comprehensive picture of the LNG market and the ability to see where LNG cargoes are, where they originated and where they are heading.
“This system is designed to give energy traders the edge over their rivals. Armed with unique insight on where LNG cargoes are, where they originated and where they are heading can open up significant trading opportunities. Users of LNGLive are presented with actionable information delivered daily as concise Excel reports giving a global view of the market,” said Ron Crean, director of business development at Lloyd’s Register Fairplay.
LNGLive uses advanced predictive algorithms to detect port calls even when a ship’s AIS transponder is switched off. The system detects factors such as ships drifting near port; port queuing as well as ships filling at Regas terminals to re-distribute and trips completed outside AIS reception. LNGLive is also able to filter out claimed trips that could not have been completed in the time available.
