Contracts worth a total of US$417 million have been signed by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) CEO Saeed Al Tayer for the construction of 13 substations.

Tayer said that the contracts will help the utilities company’s ambitious development plans for their electricity network and help to meet Dubai’s ever growing need for stable energy supplies.

The first contract  – CE/448A/2007 – comprises of  five 132/11 kV substations, one 132/33 kV substation and is worth $214 million. It was awarded to Emirates Trading Agency (ETA) and the substations will be constructed at Al Wasel (Bada Area), New Hatta Area, Barsha Residential Area, Consulates AL-Hamrya Area, Al Jadaf Area, and New Lusaily Area.
