Pipe Works to focus on oil and gas in 2009

The valve distribution company sets some bold objectives

Pipe Works’ managing director, Gary Brodie, has stated that the valve distribution company will focus on developing their oil and gas and petrochemicals business this year, as well as shifting their regional focus to Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Saudi Arabian markets.

Brodie also expressed his belief that more attention and merit should be given to Chinese manufactures of valves in the Utilities sector, who can offer similar, “if not better” products, at more reasonable prices.

“Pipe Works is a relatively young company,” he said. “Which has meant we have seen growth in our trading business during this tough time. We have started to focus on other areas in the region, namely in Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, and we are also focussed on developing our oil and gas and petrochemical business.”

“For our Utilities division, we will try to convince the industry to drop some of the barriers in place blocking the use of Chinese valves, as with these alternatives they can save a lot of money whilst providing the best quality,” he added.

“I have been to hundreds of valve factories around the world, and I can honestly say that some of the manufacturers in China are as good, if not better, than their Western contemporaries.”
