Ashok Pillai, project manager, DMG events, reveals how ADIPEC has risen to the top of the upstream industry event premier league.
How significant is ADIPEC 2008 for the oil and gas business?
ADIPEC creates a platform for oil and gas industry professionals from around the world to interact and disseminate industry information. The event helps producers from the UAE and the surrounding region to meet with their international counterparts to learn from each other through debate on problems facing the industry and to seek the solutions together.
Â
The event targets both commercial and political interests with an impressive gathering of GCC oil ministers and government officials unlike any other oil and gas industry event.
With a global audience ADIPEC is the most cost effective way of sourcing products and services for the industry in the region.
What are the principal factors behind the success of the ADIPEC event?
Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference, from a one day event in 1984, has since grown to become the leading industry event in the world. ADIPEC provides unparalleled facilities and services to ensure the participation of important companies and organisations. This has made this world-class event irresistible to the oil service industry as well as to the oil producers.
Â
Further, it is rewarding to the participants as it is held in the hub of the most important oil and gas producing region in the world. The large presence of national and international oil producers, all major international service companies, and international manufacturers, besides local engineering contractors, trading companies and consultants on the floor make ADIPEC the premier industry event in the world.
No other similar event can boast of such participation covering all segments of the industry. The conference has attracted double the amount of abstracts this year and the quality of speakers from all over the globe, covering major industry issues, is testament to our commitment of producing a first-class technical conference. ADIPEC is the place to be in November for professionals from the oil and gas industry.
What’s exciting you about this year’s event?
The show ranks amongst the top two shows in the world. There is no other exhibition, which has had such a vertical growth as ADIPEC has. In the last four editions, ADIPEC has grown five fold and we are excited holding the 13th ADIPEC at the brand new Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
We expect to host between 35 000 and 40 000 international industry executives who are spearheading the growth and development of the global oil and gas industry.
With ADIPEC, we are reversing the trend by making the world move towards Abu Dhabi for oil and gas services and equipment sourcing. During the four-day event visitors will have the opportunity to network with industry leaders and experts, as well as see the latest technologies, innovations, services and trends.
What sort of feedback have you received from previous events?
We take serious note of the opinion of exhibitors, visitors and conference delegates, and strive hard to improve services and facilities offered during the event. ADIPEC 2006 generated visitors from 82 countries, all of whom were influential and senior level personnel within the oil and gas industry.
The event attracts international buyers and influencers at the very highest levels with 58% of attendees in 2006 stating they were prime decision makers on purchasing decisions. 91% of visitors believed that attending ADIPEC was a productive use of their time whilst 82% of visitors found a new product or service of interest.
Why do you think this year’s event attracted so many technical paper submissions for presentation at the conference?
The ADIPEC conference has gained a reputation as the meeting ground of minds for the global oil and gas industry. As in the previous edition, the technical committee under Ali Al-Jarwan, the conference chairman, introduced various sub-committees with members from IOC’s and NOC’s, service companies, oilfield equipment manufacturers and institutions from around the world.
Further, through a strategic marketing campaign, awareness of the conference has been increased. The SPE has been instrumental in enhancing the number of abstracts received.
The conference will host more than 200 speakers over four days of keynote addresses, executive panels, roundtable sessions, technical presentations, panel discussions and poster sessions.
So, you think the show offers good value for money to exhibitors?
Naturally, which other exhibition platform provides such a large presence of oil producers, service providers and business professionals, all in one place? For professionals, government officials and key influencers in the global oil and gas industry, ADIPEC is an essential event on the international trade exhibition and conference calendar.
Visitors who will be looking to explore the latest technologies and industry developments. Exhibiting at ADIPEC offers access to key decision makers and influencers.
For companies with a limited budget, what is the principal advantage of ADIPEC over other exhibitions?
ADIPEC is the most cost-effective way to reach the end users of oil and gas products and services who will be attending with specific objectives and seeking a solution to fulfill their procurement requirements.
The Middle East holds two thirds of the world’s proven oil reserves and is working towards meeting the rising global demands for oil by investing billions of dollars on oil exploration, production, processing, and maintenance and infrastructure development.
New project announcements and explorations in the region demand need for superior products and services.
Also, ADIPEC boasts the most significant NOC and IOC participation and representation of any show of its kind.
Do you think the show will offer any surprises?
Beyond doubt. However, you will have to attend to find out!
