Dolphin Energy began gas supplies to Sharjah in the UAE for the first time on April 18.
The gas is being delivered to the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority, on an interruptible basis, via its new Qatar-UAE export pipeline connection to Dubai.
The firm now supplies all seven emirates with natural gas from Qatar. Dolphin Energy’s long-term customers are Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority; Union Water and Electricity Authority; Dubai Supply Authority; and, from 2008, the Oman Oil Company. Each offtaker has signed a gas-supply agreement with Dolphin Energy for 25 years.
Dolphin Energy reached its daily maximum throughput target of 2 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day in February.
Dolphin Energy is 51% owned by the Mubadala Development Company, on behalf of the government of Abu Dhabi. France’s Total and Occidental Petroleum of the US each hold a 24.5% stake in the firm.
