Tabreed has signed long-term agreements to provide cooling services to three new projects in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
In Dubai, the district cooler will supply the Rolex Building with 2,200 tonnes of refrigeration (TR) each year and the Offices Tower with 1,350 TR. The SEBA real estate project in Abu Dhabi will receive some 3,600 TR. The supply agreements are set to run for 20 years.
“Developers in the region are nowadays more aware of the benefits of district cooling technology,” said Tabreed CEO, Dany Safi. “The recent trend of developing green buildings in the UAE has encouraged the district cooling sector and we are confident that the coming years will witness increased interest in this advanced technology.
“The increasing number of projects that adopt district cooling technology is an indicator of the extensive awareness of how important it is to implement environment-friendly technologies.”
Tabreed has provided cooling services to Offices Tower since December and will start supplying the Rolex Building from February 2009 using its Sheikh Zayed Road plant. The firm will begin cooling for the Abu Dhabi project from March 2010.
