Transformer monitoring equipment firm Kelman has secured three further deals with the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC).
Mohamed Alcazimi, regional manager, Middle East said that Kelman had won a multimillion-riyal order for 19 Transfix units, the company’s online DGA (dissolved gas analysis) monitoring equipment.
In addition, Alcazimi said the same client had ordered 12 Transport X units, the portable monitoring systems, and signed a third contract for transformer life assessment and management services.
“The full assessment will take four weeks,” said Alcazimi, pointing out that the contracts were still to be finalised and that Kelman would also deliver professional transformer management training.
Alcazimi said Northern Ireland-based Kelman was facing a tight delivery schedule for the orders and to this end had opted to ship the monitoring units by air rather than by sea in order to save time. “They will be delivered on an urgent basis,” he said. “It will be within a month. Normally, we take 3-4 months for delivery and installation.”
Kelman is now looking to turn its relationship with SEC into something more exclusive. “We are looking to be a single supplier for the Saudi Electricity Company,” said Alcazimi, revealing that the company has also had success in Qatar.
“So far they are quite happy with the outcome and the support from us,” he added.
