ADNOC Distribution, the UAE’s largest fuel and convenience retailer, has announced that it has completed the opening of its first five Géant Express branded convenience stores in the UAE.

Four new openings this week, at various sites across Abu Dhabi, followed the opening of the first Géant Express convenience store in May. The openings are part of an agreement with Urban Foods under which another five Géant Express stores will open in the coming months across the UAE. The stores are undergoing a full refit including an enhanced store layout.

The new stores offer fresh ‘food to go’ and ‘food for now’ segments. The expansion in products also includes healthy alternatives such as dates and fruits, as well as Arabic sweets. In addition, there is a new accessories range that features a host of new baby and travel goods.

Commenting on the launch, ADNOC Distribution CEO, Saeed Mubarak Al Rashdi, said: “The opportunity to grow our convenience business and work alongside Urban Foods and the Géant Express brand, with their strength in grocery and food innovation, will enhance our customer experience. These first five stores provide consumers in Abu Dhabi with a compelling convenience offer, as we continue to seek to improve their choice, convenience and service.”

Urban Foods senior vice president of operations, Mark Lack, added: “We are confident that customers in Abu Dhabi will be impressed by the quality of our convenience offer, and strongly believe that we have chosen the perfect partner to expand the Géant brand in the UAE. We are excited by today’s openings, and look forward to many more to come.”
