The second annual Global Energy Talent Index (GETI), an energy recruitment and employment trends report put together by Airswift and Energy Jobline, shows that oil and gas businesses must embrace automation and digitalisation to reshape and revitalise their workforces.

Key survey findings of more than 20,000 energy professionals include the fact 77% of professionals believe automation and digitalisation are positive developments, overriding concerns about job security.

Four-in-ten respondents cited increased happiness over the past three years attributed to digitally-enabled trends like flexible working, while more than half of professionals expect a pay increase in 2018, with 25% expecting rates and salaries to rise by more than 5%.

However, according to the GETI, 56% of professionals would consider switching to another sector, with 28% eyeing renewables as a destination in which to progress their career.
