The Atlantic Council’s second-annual Global Energy Forum will convene in Abu Dhabi during 12-13 January 2018.
This premier gathering of government, industry and thought leaders will set the global energy agenda for the year and anticipate and respond to dramatic changes in the world of energy.
For a second consecutive year, the Forum will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces.
Convened in partnership with the Ministry of Energy of the UAE, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), and Mubadala Investment Company, the Forum precedes Abu Dhabi Sustainability week and the World Future Energy Summit.
The 2018 Forum will focus on three key themes: the geopolitics of energy transformation; the electrification of everything; and financing and governance mechanisms for the future energy mix. The Forum will also highlight the important role of women in the energy sector.
Speakers include HE Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, minister of energy, UAE; HE Khalid Al-Falih, minister of energy, industry, and mineral resources, Saudi Arabia; HE Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, minister of state, UAE, and CEO, ADNOC; HE Dr Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of environment and climate change, UAE; HE Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority, and managing director and Group CEO, Mubadala Investment Company; Claudio Descalzi, CEO, Eni S.p.A.; and Meg Gentle, president and CEO, Tellurian, Inc.
Forum participants will consider disruptive trends in energy systems and technologies, and examine oil, gas, nuclear and renewable energy marked developments in the context of major political and security challenges.
